mecwacare Elstoft House provides:

- Activity room with tea and coffee making facilities for residents and their families.
- Garden with two large aquariums and a bird aviary.
mecwacare Elstoft House has three separate dining areas and large lounge areas with large screen televisions which provide the residents with an area to socialise. There is a large activity room provided for various activities with tea and coffee facilities available for residents’ families, and there is a chapel on-site available for worshipers of all denominations.
mecwacare Elstoft House is surrounded by large gardens with sitting areas and winding pathways. Residents have access to the entire garden and the option to tend to their own garden area or join a communal vegetable patch. There are also a large aquarium with many colourful fish.
The activities calendar is planned a month in advance and provides many interesting and varied group activities such as cooking and sewing groups, and the cafe each Friday. Outings are conducted weekly on the facility bus to a variety of clubs and places of interest. Residents also enjoy sing-alongs, dancing and music each week.
mecwacare is a major provider of residential, nursing and support services for the frail aged, disadvantaged and people with special needs and disabilities. They operate through an integrated service network of over 1,700 employees and 350 volunteers, caring for over 13,000 people each year across greater Melbourne and regional Victoria.
mecwacares objective is to enhance the quality of life of people in need of care, especially the elderly, through the delivery of innovative, responsive and fully-evaluated services offered in residential settings, community facilities and clients' homes.
Care Fee Increases
from 20 Sept 2024
From 20 September 2024, the following aged care fees will become effective:
The Basic Daily Care Fee increases to $63.57 pd (from $61.96 pd).
The Fully-Supported Asset Threshold increases to $61,500 (from $59,500).
The Non-Supported Asset Threshold increases to $206,039 (from $201,231).
The maximum Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) for refurbished / non-refurbished rooms will be $69.49 pd / $45.31 pd respectively.
The effective Refundable Accommodation Contribution (RAC) for a refurbished facility, above the 40 % fully supported ratio, will be $303,395 which will put pressure on persons looking for a fully supported placement, given that the average RAD is now higher than this amount.
The Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) has not yet been finalised for 1 October 2024, however recent RBA inaction suggests that the MPIR will remain around the current 8.36% pa.
The Basic Daily Care Fee and some aged care thresholds are indexed to the Age Pension. On the 20 September 2024, the single age pension increases from $1,116.30 fn to $1,144.40 fn. This is based upon recent increases in the cost of living reflected in the Pensioner & Beneficiary Living Cost Index (PBLCI).
