One and two-bedroom suites are offered, with each featuring access to a garden or balcony. All rooms are single occupancy and include an ensuite bathroom. Two-bedroom suites feature kitchenettes.

Three comfortable dining areas are available for residents to use, along with spacious and relaxing lounge areas. An activities room is used for a variety of lifestyle programs and includes a tea and coffee area for visiting friends and family.

The lifestyle program has a great range of activities on offer for residents including cooking, sewing groups, regular outings, singing, dancing and more.

All Rooms

Modern furniture is provided in all rooms of the John Atchison Centre, including specialised beds, overhead table, one chair, bedside table and a cupboard.

Residents can bring their own furniture (excluding beds), or use mecwacare-provided designer furniture.

High quality carpet is used throughout the John Atchison Centre, creating a luxurious, at-home environment.

Premium linen and designer fabrics are utilised across the John Atchison Centre.

All rooms have generous storage space, including built-in wardrobes.

All resident room doors are lockable, and each has a lockable cupboard and bedside table drawer. Safes are available on request.

Installation of personal fittings will be carried out by mecwacare’s Maintenance Officer.

The individual climate of each room can be set by the resident through reverse-cycle air-conditioning and heating. Overhead lighting controls are in each room, and sensor lighting is used in all en-suites to enhance safety.

Windows designed to block out harmful UV radiation provide natural light in each room.

All rooms have private ensuites that are fully accessible, including absence of trip hazards on floor, built-in handrails on each toilet and handrails throughout the ensuite bathroom.

All rooms, ensuites and public areas have Nurse Call buttons. All resident rooms have telephones, and connections for free-toair television and Foxtel on connection by resident. Internet connections are installed for access if required.

Care Fee Increases
from 20 Sept 2024

From 20 September 2024, the following aged care fees will become effective:

The Basic Daily Care Fee increases to $63.57 pd (from $61.96 pd).

The Fully-Supported Asset Threshold increases to $61,500 (from $59,500).

The Non-Supported Asset Threshold increases to $206,039 (from $201,231).

The maximum Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) for refurbished / non-refurbished rooms will be $69.49 pd / $45.31 pd respectively.

The effective Refundable Accommodation Contribution (RAC) for a refurbished facility, above the 40 % fully supported ratio, will be $303,395 which will put pressure on persons looking for a fully supported placement, given that the average RAD is now higher than this amount.

The Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) has been finalised for 1 October 2024, and has been set at 8.38% pa.

The Basic Daily Care Fee and some aged care thresholds are indexed to the Age Pension. On the 20 September 2024, the single age pension increased from $1,116.30 fn to $1,144.40 fn. This is based upon recent increases in the cost of living reflected in the Pensioner & Beneficiary Living Cost Index (PBLCI).
