Norsan Pty Ltd is a privately owned and operated family company that provides the day to day "hands on" management of Park Lane Croydon Residential Aged Care and has provided care and support to the elderly since 1988.

Residents Rooms

Resident rooms are beautifully furnished and provide a warm and comfortable living environment with window views overlooking water features, formal gardens, themed court yards or open park views. Each room incorporates appropriate privacy and safety measures including nurse-call, slip resistant flooring and individual ensuite bathrooms.

Common areas include spacious lounge rooms, elegant dining rooms, comfortable sitting rooms with tea making facilities, Chapel, activities room, café, hair dressing salon, spa room and physiotherapy room.

Outdoors

Beautifully landscaped gardens surround the many courtyards which provide a lovely setting for Residents to relax and enjoy the surrounds of the water features, the rose arbour and alfresco café area. Outdoor activities include lawn bowls, golf (on the putting green), gardening in the raised planter gardens or a stroll along the board walk amongst the gum trees.

The rear of the Park Lane home provides access to Warrien Reserve, a beautiful native bush parkland reserve, complete with children’s playground and undercover BBQ facilities – ideal for family visits and picnics.

Lifestyle Program

The Lifestyle Program ensures that each Resident has the opportunity to participate in meaningful social activities, to form friendships, enjoy visiting entertainers and involve themselves with various other social and individual personalised activities. Whether it is a sing along during Happy Hour, participation in our crafts programs, Bingo, Church services or outings, the Lifestyle staff ensure a wide range of activities so that each Resident can have an enjoyable time.

Quiet areas are also available throughout the facility for Residents to organise and participate in their own social activities such as cards or board games with other Residents, family and friends. The Men’s group program includes activities such as wood working, gardening, talks by guest speakers and outings to places of interest.

Meals

Delicious meals are prepared from fresh produce and are cooked daily on site by our qualified Chef and catering staff. Our menu, created in consultation with our residents and dietician, is planned to provide a balanced diet while offering a wide variety with an emphasis on home style cooking.

Park Lane are also able to cater for special diets for cultural, religious or medical reasons should they be required. Along with main meals, morning tea, afternoon tea and supper are also catered for with an emphasis on fresh home baking

MPIR reducing to 8.34% pa

The Maximum Permissible Interest Rate (MPIR) will reduce to 8.34% pa from

For a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) of $550,000 the equivalent Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) reduces to $125.67 pd ($45,870 pa).

The Reserve Bank has kept the cash rate on hold for a few months, so we are seeing a very small decrease in the MPIR. This could mean that the MPIR has reached its peak and could be on the slide down.

Also from 1st April 2024, the refurbished Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) rate of $68.14 means an equivalent Refundable Accommodation Contribution (RAC) of $298,215. In June 2022 the RAC was $544,719, meaning that aged care homes that are “RAD-focused” are now less likely to look at fully supported / partially supported residents if the aged care home has already exceeded their 40% supported ratio, as the RAC has now dropped below $300,000.

The change in the MPIR to 8.34% is welcomed but should have no major impact on residents as they enter an aged care home from

Where can I find the Star Ratings?

From , the Government has started to use the STAR RATING system for registered aged care homes (new homes will be allocated a Star Rating after 12 months of operation).

Star Ratings are displayed on the Aged Care Provider Search within the My Aged Care website.

The Star Rating is based upon 5 levels with the middle rating denoting only a minimum baseline of ‘Acceptable’ care quality and services.


Continuous Improvement

The Star Rating System has revealed that 41 % of aged care homes are performing at a 5-star (excellent) or 4-star (good) level.

Star Ratings also reveal that astonishingly 5 % are performing below the minimum standards set, receiving a dismal and disturbing (Improvement Needed) or (Significant Improvement Needed) Star Rating.
